minimal art, maximum love | dia:beacon family photography

Photographing at Dia:Beacon ranks as one of my top five favorite things in life, so when fellow family photographer Mikki Skinner reached out to schedule a session and brainstorm Hudson Valley location ideas, my immediate response was to shoot in this 300,000 square foot playground of natural light and minimal art. Even on a busy, bustling Sunday afternoon, it was as if we were the only guests in the entire museum, and each time we entered a new gallery, the looks of wonder on the faces of both kiddos and parents were just as much of a treat for me as the installations themselves. I've roamed this space more times than I can count, but each visit is more enchanting than the last, and capturing a family as fabulous as the Skinners amidst the patterns, shapes and streams of light is certainly going to be hard to top.
