straight kiln it | at home and in the studio with beth katz of mt washington pottery

One of my favorite job perks of being an editorial photographer is the chance to meet and connect with creatives of all types, and last week afforded me the opportunity to work with the woman behind a studio/brand that I've long admired after seeing her recognizable work while photographing homes throughout Los Angeles.

Beth Katz of Mt. Washington Pottery hails from one of the country's creative birthplaces, Topanga Canyon, but her path to pottery-making wasn't exactly a linear one. She's recounting her story on Jenni Kayne's blog today and tomorrow, but I wanted to share with you a larger set of images here because I was completely enamored with Beth's home and workspace. Every inch of her quaint Los Angeles abode was thoughtfully renovated and decorated, and every corner was a vignette waiting to be photographed. The images that follow are a peek into her life as a potter, and I hope you'll glean a little inspiration from what she's created for herself and for others.
