In honor of my one-year “cancerversary,” my husband Roni and I escaped to Big Sur to surround ourselves with the soothing balm of nature and breathtaking ocean views, and to remember how far we’ve come since that fateful day when my doctor called to deliver the crushing news. The trip was our way of marking a milestone and planting ourselves in a place known for its powerful healing energy—and heal we did. While absorbing the expanse of the Central Coast, I lovingly captured these images with my film camera to share with those who have supported us through these difficult times. May this scene bring calm to your home through the technicolor blues of the sea, and may it also remind us that each day here on earth is a true gift that we must not waste.

backstory

In April of 2021 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and two months later my dear friend and gifted photographer Jesse Chamberlin Marble joined the angels after a long and arduous battle with lymphoma.

Needless to say, blood cancer is far too close to home and becoming far too common. While I’m now in remission after finishing treatment in late 2021, I’m working to dedicate the rest of my days to giving back to those that have devoted their livelihoods to finding a cure for these horrific diseases.

As such, I will be donating 50% of proceeds from the sale of this framed print to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the world's largest voluntary nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Deepest gratitude for supporting my artistry and more importantly, for supporting a crucial cause and thus delivering real hope to blood cancer patients and their loved ones.
