There's no better time or place than autumn in Brooklyn, and capturing a crew who's ready and willing to get silly, leaf-covered, and maybe even a little sweaty makes this peak family session season all the more enjoyable. These four won my hearts from minute one, and I knew immediately that sitting and posing was not in their vocabulary. The little ones were smart as whips, and I hastily threw out my bag of tricks in the first five minutes when I realized that neither one of them was buying what I was trying to sell—but I'm always up for a good challenge, and I never dismiss an opportunity to let moments unfold on their own. We photographed until the sun disappeared behind the neighboring brownstones, and I left with enough foliage dust on my clothing to form a new tree—undoubtedly a great sign of an instant connection and many more sessions with this awesome family to come.
